Fruit Bellini from Bomb Cosmetics

I was in the English Market in Cork over the weekend and I noticed a little stand selling really cute bath bombs. Of course I had to buy one! They were not very well labelled so I purchased the one I liked the smell of the most. Turns out it was the 'fruit bellini bath mallow' pictured below:

How cute is that!It was hard to use something so cute but somehow I managed it this afteroon. I had a really nice bath and the scent was amazing(the mallow is scented with frankincense, sweet orange, berry and sparkling white wine!). Also it was incredibly moisturising (slightly too moisturising for my skin unfortunatley but would be good for someone with dry skin.)
The 'mallow' came in a little bag which said the manufacturer was 'bomb cosmetics'. I had not heard of them before so I looked them up online and found a website full of beautiful bath products(http://cart.bombcosmetics.co.uk/). Here are a few of the lovely products to wet your appetite:

It is a really lovely website and if you are a fan of Lush I would recommend having a look. I was pretty impressed with the product I purchased and the prices are cheaper than Lush. On the website the prices are in sterling and most things are around £2.00. I paid €2.50 for the mallow I purchased. Also there is free delivery on orders over £25.00.
Have you tried anything from 'Bomb Cosmetics'?

Irish Goodies

Hello,

Happy St. Patricks day everyone. In honour of St. Patrick, today I want to talk about some great Irish goodies.

Nadur organics (http://www.nadurorganics.ie/)supply luxurious bath and body products. All products are pure and natural and contain essential oils. I think I will be adding the following products to my wish list:

Pamper bath box

Revive bath and massage oil.

Another great Irish company is Seavite(http://www.seavite.ie/). Seavite are Ireland's original organic seaweed skincare range. It is based on the therapeutic benefits of organic seaweed which helps to enhance people's health and wellbeing. They supply cleansers, mositurisers, bath & shower gels and body lotions. They even have seaweed shampoo and conditioner. I have used the 'revitalising organic seaweed bath and shower gel' in the past and I really loved it. It is great if your skin is feeling particularly sensitive.

The Burren Perfumery (http://www.burrenperfumery.com/) supplies soaps, creams, candles, oils and perfumes. The company has been likened to the Jo Malone of Ireland and all products are inspired by the landscape and environment of the Burren. I am really looking forward to trying their products and the next time I am in the burren I will definately drop in to see the herb gardens, visit the tea rooms and purchase some soaps.

So this was just a short review of some Irish companies that interest me. There are many more wonderful Irish companies out there and I think its very important that we remember to support our local ecomomy.

Thanks for reading and please let me know if there are any Irish products you really like.

Bath Times

Hi there,

I hope you are all having a nice enjoyable weekend. One of my favourite ways to relax at the weekend is to have a nice long soak in the bath. Baths can help to relieve stress, anxiety, insomnia, muscle aches, menstrual pains, tension headaches and can leave you feeling blissed out and happy with the world.

I am a big fan of Lush baths but I also love the Radox sleep easy bath therapy bubble bath. It contains jasmine and chamomile and I find the scent very relaxing and calming. You can get so many baths from one 500ml bottle and it creates great bubbles. At just €2.00 a bottle I think this is excellent value.

When I take a bath I like to light some candles and read a book.I have damaged so many books by getting them wet in the bath! Here are two books I have enjoyed reading recently:

Little Black everything by Alex Coleman

The Disengagement Ring by Clodagh Murphy

Both are light and fluffy and perfect for relaxing bath time reading.

Thanks for reading and I would love to hear about your favourite bath products. xx

Blue Skies Bubble Bar Slice

I was passing by the lush store today and I could not stop myself from going in. I think I have become a bit of a Lush addict of late. Anyway I did not linger long because I knew exactly what I wanted. I had spotted the blue skies bubble bar slice on the website and I knew it had to be mine. So today I handed over the €5.10 and it was mine.

The bubble bar is really pretty with blue and white swirls. When I got home I kept taking it out of the bag to give it a little sniff. It contains a wonderful concoction of scents including patchouli and cinnamon bark. I could not resist the temptation very long and before I knew it I was running the water, crumbling the bubble bar and hopping into the bath.

The bath was relaxing and enjoyable. The water turned blue and there were lots of lovely white bubbles. I can understand exactly how this bubble bar got its name. When I got out of the bath my skin was soft and smelled lovely. The scent does linger on the skin and I can still smell it now a few hours later.

Overall I am very happy with this product. I used less than a third of the bar slice for my bath today so this is much better value for money than any of the bath ballistics. Also it has something I like which none of the bath ballistics have – BUBBLES!

Sakura Bath Ballistic

Hi guys,

Today I am going to review the Sakura bath ballistic from Lush. I had a very relaxing bath today using this product.

The sakura looks so pretty-mainly light pink with little blue and dark pink sprinkes. It also smells very nice. It is scented with mimosa, jasmine and orange blossom & it is supposed to 'encapsulate the feeling of cherry blossom falling softly in a gentle breeze'.

When I put it in the bath it fizzed up pretty well and turned the bath water pink.I enjoyed the bath. I thought the scent was nice and not overpowering at all. I closed my eyes and imagined I was among the cherry blossoms in Japan!!

When I came out of the bath I was really happy with how the bath left my skin so soft and sweet smelling. I was even happier when the water drained and I saw that it left no stains on the bath or any remnants on the bottom.

This is my favourite bath ballistic from Lush that I have tried so far. My only complaint is that it is quite expensive. €5.05 is not cheap for a bath bomb. When I see that it is only £3.20 in the UK I think I will be stocking up on Lush products next I make the trip north of the border.I really wish Lush would use a better exchange rate for us Irish gals.

Lush Bath Ballistics

“Sorrow can be alleviated by good sleep, a bath and a glass of wine”
~St. Thomas Aquinas

I have always loved the smell wafting from the Lush stores. However I know this is not the opinion of everyone and many people just passing by the stores find the smell very overpowering. And this is not the only controversial aspect of the store. Recently Lush has been in the news in the UK through its active support for the ‘Hunt Saboteurs Association’.

Lush does an excellent job at marketing their brand which is a little quirky, green & natural (I will come back to just how natural shortly). I can happily spend an hour or so reading their newsletter (the current one is 39 pages long). It is bright, colourful & always makes me want to go back to the store & buy something I have read about. Unfortunately going into the store is not one of my favourite experiences because the very enthuastic staff members latch on to you as soon as you step inside the door making it very difficult to browse.

Anyway a few days ago I braced myself & went in to their store on Henry Street in search of some bath ballistics. There is an excellent range all with a clever names and all claiming relaxing/energising/sensual effects. Many are very beautiful. At the moment there is a Christmas range of ballistics & I was drawn to the Cinders one(€2.85). It is yellow with pink sparkles(apparently popping candy designed to sound like burning logs) & is scented with cinnamon and orange to smell like a warming yuletime drink. When I used it in the bath this ballistic turned my water bright yellow, did not smell very strong & I did not experience the ‘popping candies’ effect. When I got out of the bath I felt it left my skin with a funny yellow tinge & it actually turned my nails yellow. Also I had to scrub my bath for a few minutes to get rid of the yellow trace it left on it. Perhaps this is down to one of the ingredients -colour 18050 . This does not sound very natural to me!

The other bath ballistic I bought was ‘waving not drowning’ (€4.00). This contains lavender oil & ylang ylang oil(two of my favourite fragrances) & promises to aid sleep and fight restless nights. I was very disappointed with this one. Infact when I was in the bath I wondered had I put the ballistic in at all because the water was perfectly clear & I got absoutley no scent. At €4.00 I would not buy this again.

Overall I was not too impressed with the bath ballistics. I feel many are very expensive (the Geophyzz is €5.25) especially as you can only get one use from them. Also I am disappointed that they are not completely natural as most have at least 3 synthetic ingredients(the ingredients listings are clear and transparent showing natural ingredients in green type face and synthetic ingredients in black). For an extra euro or two I could purchase an all natural bath cream/oil which would give me 10/20 uses.

I do feel that the ballistics are a nice gift idea & I know that I will most probably be back to Lush again soon to try out a few other items I saw in their newsletter. Their marketing has worked its magic on me!

Weleda Lavender Creamy Body Wash

Hi there, today I am going to review Weleda Lavender Creamy Body Wash. I bought a 200ml tube in Health Matters for €12.00.

This is a body wash to use in the shower & the lavender scent is calming & soothing to the senses. Lavender is traditionally used at night to aid sleep. However I used this product in my morning shower & I found it quite calming especially if I know I have a stressful day ahead.

I decided to try out the wash in the bath so poured some under running water before stepping into the bath. It was not perfect but I was much happier with it than some synthetic bubble baths I have used in the past. I had a lovely relaxing bath & my skin smelled lovely afterwards. I am planning to buy lavender scented bath gel but have to do some research into which brand to go for. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

The smell of lavender is very strong so if you do not like this scent you probably should not buy this product. However I do like the wash & I am also planning to buy it in a different fragrance so I will keep you updated.

Whilst doing a bit of research today on the Weleda website I was delighted to see that this product was a winner in the ‘green beauty bible awards’. These awards seem very credible & one of the judges is the co-founder of ‘Green & Blacks’ chocolates (my favourites). Here is what the ladies have to say about the wash:

Comments: ‘Excellent product – subtle lavender fragrance, not at all old-fashioned, left my skin slightly scented, moisturised, and softer’ • ‘creamy and rich, left a silky feel, not expensive but feels like a top-quality product – perfect’ • ‘like the simple packaging and flip top’ • ‘wonderful and relaxing in the evening; only needed a little bit so lasted for ages’.

I am off now to check out the website for the ‘green beauty bible awards’. Hopefully I will discover some new products to try. Thanks for reading. I will be back again soon with more reviews.
